HCV RNA by PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) Col Sultan’s Lab started to perform this test back in 2003. At that time this was the only lab between Lahore and Islamabad that had the privilege of having this new technique.
ROCHE-Amplicore technique was, and is still, the most trusted technique available for performing the test of HCV RNA by PCR. And in Pakistan this technique has been adapted by the leading labs like Agha Khan University Hospital lab, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital lab and Shifa International Hospital lab.
This technique is rather expensive, but since it is the most accurate one, we had to have it. Keeping in mind the affordability of our patients, this test is done at much cheaper rates at Col Sultan’s Lab as compared to other labs using this technique.
